Presentation: When Project Management Meets Reality: Bridging the Gap Between Best Practices and Real-World Delivery
Project management frameworks provide structure, consistency, and proven practices. But what happens when those frameworks meet the realities of organizational life?
Stakeholders have competing priorities. Decision rights are unclear. Governance processes exist but aren't consistently followed. Resources are constrained, and organizational culture doesn't always support how projects are supposed to operate.
Successful project management requires more than knowing the methodology. It requires the ability to adapt, influence, and exercise sound judgement.
In this interactive session, we'll explore the gap between project management theory and organizational reality and introduce practical techniques for navigating five common challenges: unclear ownership, ineffective governance, competing priorities, inconsistent processes, and the disconnect between project delivery and business outcomes.
We'll also demonstrate how artificial intelligence can serve as a practical thought partner, helping project managers identify gaps, evaluate options, improve communications, and prepare for better decisions... while reinforcing why human judgement and relationships remain essential.
Participants will leave with an actionable framework for applying project management principles more effectively in imperfect organizational environments.
